Dr. Yolanda S.W. Moore was born and raised in a very rural part of northeastern North Carolina.  Through her upbringing and leaders from her hometown church, St. John AMEZ of Sunbury, N.C., Yolanda came to know the Lord and devoted her life to Christ at 12 years old.  Ever since, she’s been consistently active in various ministries and absolutely loves to serve God’s people.

She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.  After completing studies at UNC-CH, she pursued a Doctor of Optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now known as Salus University) outside of Philadelphia, P.A.

Along with her husband, Dr. Yolanda joined Berean Baptist Church (Raleigh) in 2015.  Understanding and acknowledging the importance of one’s holistic development and wellbeing during teenage years, Dr. Yolanda and her husband established the teen ministry, BeFree Teens.  Recalling memorable Sunday school experiences that influenced her perspective on life as a teen, Dr. Yolanda strives to make a positive impact by partnering with the youth as they begin their journey into adulthood.

Dr. Yolanda also serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Berean Community Center, Inc.  As a founding director, Dr. Yolanda has helped develop many of the center’s most longstanding events and programs.  “One of the greatest gifts God has given is the ability to give and share love with others regardless of how much or how little we have.  The world seems to smile brighter and feel safer when we all pitch in to lend a helping hand.”

Apart from vocational responsibilities and community outreach, Dr. Yolanda enjoys traveling the world exploring various cultures and meeting new people, spending time with family and friends, and completely DIY home projects.  She has been married to Reverend Darius E. Moore since 2013.
